Fibre is an essential part of our diet to help maintain good health. It can help prevent chronic conditions such as heart disease and certain cancers. But most of us are consuming way below the Government recommendations of 30g a day, with the levels actually falling not rising. Most men need to increase consumption by 50% and women by a whopping 75%.
Meal modelling by experts at the British Nutrition Foundation found that they only way we can achieve this target is if we start to increase fibre intake at every meal, inculding snacks.
