Method

Step 1

Dry fry the onion and beef together in a medium saucepan for about 5 minutes until browned, add the tomato ketchup, brown sauce, baked beans, and seasoning.

Step 2

Add about 150ml boiling water if necessary to give a moist but not too sloppy gravy.

Step 3

Bring to the boil then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Set oven to 200c/18ocfan/gas6

Step 5

To make the topping: Cut the bread into triangles, removing the crusts if liked. Arrange over the beef. Scatter with cheese and drizzle with melted butter. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
